AHAA, which is part of a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was created in 2009 to give homeschool families an affordable and engaging opportunity to educate their children under Section 59-65-47, which is also known as "Option 3" or "Third Option" home school accountability, of South Carolina's educations laws detailed in "Title 59 - Eduction".  In response to high costs for accountability memberships (up to $400.00/year or more), not including additional costs for some support group memberships (up to $20.00/year), several homeschool families came together to form the Alliance Homeschool Accountability Association offering accountability membership for your entire familiy.

During the 2009 - 2010 school year, we launched a project to establish an Internet presence to allow more exposure to families throughout South Carolina.  Our goal is to provide the legally required accountability at a low annual cost and offer opportunities to connect with the homeschool community throughout South Carolina.  We accomplish this goal by offering a basic accountability membership for an annual fee of $25.00 per family regardless of the number of children, and opening the door to interaction and communication with other home school families via our free support group membership.  For those families who want the extra support, such as transcripts, records keeping, in-person curriculum counseling, etc., we offer those services as optional fee based services.

All of our accountability members, including those requesting optional services, report annual savings ranging from $20.00/year to over $400.00/year.  Our support group members, who often become accountability members, report annual support groups savings of up to $20.00/year.  When it comes to getting together with other home school families, via our free support group, we build a network of friends who can help eachother and it makes no sense to make up a fee just to be part of a network of friends.
